December 2012 Update

by Hedy Becker

On December 8, 2012, BSGNY held its 2nd Annual Handmade Holiday Craft Fair at the Fashion Institute of Technology's (FIT) John E. Reeves Great Hall. With 66 incredibly talented member-vendors, the hall was aglow with dazzling handmade crafts that ranged from jewelry to wearable art in the form of hats, aprons and so much more. It was very exciting to greet over 725 visitors at the Sale. Though this is a slight decline in attendance from last year, we believe that with the state of the economy coupled with the recent devastation of Sandy - our turnout was quite successful.

BSGNY's Holiday event differs from most other craft shows around the city. Of course, the amazing shopping experience is definitely something that guests have come to expect from our events. But what really makes the BSGNY experience unique, is the warm welcome each and every one of our visitors receive upon arrival to the event. Our proud and incredibly talented member-volunteers, bubbling with passion for their craft and their Society, eagerly welcome everyone who walks through the door with a beaming smile and a buzz of excitement. The friendly atmosphere is not only felt by shoppers; it also extends out to our sellers – our fellow members who are putting their best foot forward representing themselves, as well as BSGNY. There is an underlying comraderie among our vendors – each excited to see what their fellow members have created while sharing techniques and suggestions that make the selling experience so much more rewarding. Vendors were also supported by their fellow member-volunteers who diligently walked the selling floor all day long, keeping order and helping to man selling tables when vendors' needed a short break. The event went on without a hitch! Each and every one for helping to make this event the great success that we believe it was. Together, we can accomplish anything!
